Life doesn’t always go the way we planned. Sometimes, our dreams unravel, our plans fall apart, and we’re left wondering, God, why is this happening to me?
But here’s the truth: God doesn’t let things fall apart without a purpose. He’s not punishing you or forgetting you. He’s redirecting you. What feels like rejection or failure to us is often His way of steering us toward something far better—something only He can see.
Think about a time in your life when you prayed for something with all your heart, only to watch it slip away. Maybe it was a dream job, a relationship you thought would last forever, or an opportunity that felt like everything you’d been working for. The disappointment felt unbearable, didn’t it?
But now, looking back, can you see how God used that moment? Maybe the door that closed led you to a new opportunity that fits you perfectly. Or perhaps the heartbreak taught you to rely on Him in ways you never had before. Romans 8:28 reminds us:“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
God isn’t just working in the good times—He’s working in the mess, in the disappointment, and in the confusion.
We like to think life is a straight line: we plan, we pray, and things happen just as we imagined. But life is more like a GPS. We may enter a destination, but when we take a wrong turn—or when a road is blocked—the GPS doesn’t give up. It recalculates, finding another way to get us where we need to go.
That’s exactly how God works. When our plans fall apart, His plans fall into place. Proverbs 19:21 tells us:“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
What feels like a detour to us is often part of His perfect design.
Trusting God in the middle of change isn’t easy. It takes faith to believe He’s working when we can’t see the full picture.
It’s natural to feel disappointed when life doesn’t go your way. But instead of holding onto frustration, take it to God. Pray, “Lord, I trust You. I don’t understand, but I know You have a plan for me.” Surrendering your plans doesn’t mean giving up—it means trusting God’s way is better.
Even when life feels chaotic, God is still in control. He’s using every twist and turn to shape you, teach you, and prepare you. Ask yourself, What might God be teaching me in this season? Often, the hardest moments hold the greatest lessons.
You don’t need to have everything figured out. Psalm 119:105 says,“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Notice it doesn’t say the whole path will be lit—just the next step. Trust God enough to take that step, even when you can’t see the final destination.
It’s hard to understand why God allows certain things to happen. But one thing is certain: He is good, and His plan is perfect. Jeremiah 29:11 promises us,“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The next time life doesn’t go as planned, take a deep breath and trust that God is in control. Instead of asking, “Why me?” ask, “Lord, what’s next?” He’s not done with your story. The very thing you’re struggling with today could become the biggest blessing of your life.
Even when the road feels uncertain, God is guiding you. His plan is always greater than anything you could imagine. Trust Him.
