Let me talk to you for a minute; not as someone who has it all together, but as someone who knows what it’s like to be unsure. Maybe you're in that place where you feel God is pulling you toward something different, something new, and it’s stretching you. Maybe it’s walking away from a job that’s draining the life out of you, or stepping into a new opportunity that makes you nervous. Maybe you’re trying to heal from something no one knows about, forgive someone who hurt you, or finally face a part of your life you’ve been avoiding. It could be going back to school, starting over in a new city, letting go of a relationship that isn’t healthy, or simply choosing peace instead of chaos. Whatever it is, you feel it: that pull in your spirit, that gentle but firm voice saying, “It’s time.”
And here’s the thing: it’s normal to feel nervous. Life has a way of throwing moments at us that make us question everything. Fear creeps in, uncertainty holds us back, and we start wondering, “Am I really ready for this?” But I want to tell you something right now: You are. You are ready.
God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called. He’s been getting you ready, not in the way you imagined, but in the quiet moments, the difficult seasons, the times you didn’t even realize He was preparing you. Every tear, every hard lesson, every prayer you said in the dark has been part of the process. It might feel like you’re walking into the unfamiliar, but you’re walking with the One who knows everything.
I remember the first time I was asked to speak in church after giving my life to Jesus. I was a nervous wreck for days, running through all the “what ifs.” What if I sounded foolish? What if my message wasn’t clear? What if I panicked? I was putting so much pressure on myself, forgetting that this wasn’t about me, it was about God.
That morning, I sat in the back of the church completely overwhelmed as I watched the room fill up faster than I expected. My hands were shaky. My heart was racing. Then I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was the pastor.
“Are you ready?” he asked.
I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out. I wasn’t sure if I was ready. I wasn’t even sure what “ready” was supposed to feel like. My heart was pounding so hard it felt like everyone in the church could hear it, and then he led me to the front.
I walked up to a small wooden podium, adjusted the microphone, took a deep breath, introduced myself, and prayed these simple words: “Let Your will be done.”
When I opened my eyes, I heard: “Let Me use you for My glory.”
That’s exactly what I did. I didn’t let fear control me. That day, many people gave their lives to Christ, not because of great sounding words or a perfect delivery, but because of obedience. I stepped aside so God could shine.
Maybe right now, you’re standing in front of something that feels too big. Maybe fear is making you hesitate. But let me remind you what’s true: David didn’t defeat Goliath through skill, but because he was willing. God was the force behind the stone (1 Samuel 17:47). Moses didn’t part the Red Sea. His faith did, and God made the way (Exodus 14:21). Peter walked on water not by power, but by trusting Jesus. And when fear got a hold of him, he sank (Matthew 14:29-31)..
Faith isn’t the absence of fear. It’s the decision not to let fear lead. Greatness doesn’t mean you won’t be afraid. It means you’ll move forward anyway.
When God calls you, whether the assignment is public or private, big or small, He’s already prepared you. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to be seasoned. You just have to be willing. Esther risked her life to go before the king and said, “If I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16). That wasn’t weakness. That was bold, holy faith.
Sometimes no one else can help you; only God. Yes, friends and leaders are a gift, but when God gives the assignment, He is the One who will see it through. Stop trying to figure it all out. That’s not your job. Your job is to walk forward, even if fear is still trying to hold you.
Fear and faith can exist in the same space, but only one can lead. Let faith speak louder. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
"Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1)
Greatness is waiting on your obedience. You got this, because God’s got you. Now go.
Pray With Me:
Father God,
Thank You for calling me, for equipping me, and for choosing me. Even when fear tries to rise, let faith rise higher. Remind me that You are with me — that I never walk alone. Give me the courage to obey, the strength to endure, and the peace to know You are in control. I lay down my doubts, my excuses, and my fears. Have Your way in me. Use me for Your glory.
