Activate Your God-Given Gifts

Writer: Ron HaleRon Hale
If you have a dream moving inside you, calling to be awakened, or a passion that won’t let go, whatever you do—do not give up. Don’t abandon your mission just because it hasn't happened yet. Don’t push it aside because no one else sees it. And don’t bury it just because others fail to believe in it.

The graveyard is full of untapped potential—dreams never pursued, talents never developed, and ideas that never took flight. Don’t let that be your story.

I remember speaking at a conference full of young people, asking each one what they dreamed of becoming. Their aspirations were big—lawyers, doctors, NBA players, business owners, police officers, and politicians. Then, I turned to their parents and asked if they knew their children’s dreams. Not a single hand went up.

I don’t share this to criticize parents but to inspire greatness—not just in the young but in everyone. Greatness isn’t reserved for a select few; it’s in all of us. Sometimes, the people who doubt your dreams are the very ones who never dared to believe in their own. Misery loves company, but success and failure both begin in the same place—the mind.

If you believe you’ll fail, failure is waiting. If you believe you’ll succeed, success is already preparing to meet you. The Bible says, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

Many people wait for opportunities to fall into their laps, wasting valuable time that could be spent investing in their God-given purpose. There are 168 hours in a week. We spend much of that working, handling responsibilities, and sleeping. But what about the unaccounted hours? How are you using them? How much time are you dedicating to sharpening your skills, developing your gifts, and pursuing your purpose?

Personally, I strive to invest in myself every day—whether through writing, reading, spending time with God, exercising, or creating something meaningful. I keep moving forward.

Stop waiting for validation from others. Stop sharing your dreams with everyone—because not everyone is in your corner. The next thing you create, don’t announce it until it’s done. Jesus Himself taught, “Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing” (Matthew 6:3).

If you don’t yet know what you are great at, ask God to reveal your purpose. Because when you find your purpose, you’ll find exactly what you were created to do.

Each of us was designed with a unique ability to impact the world and draw people closer to God. If your goal is solely personal satisfaction and worldly gain, it will never fulfill you. But if your goal is to glorify God with the talents He has given you, then your gift will make room for you (Proverbs 18:16).

Stop wasting time. Time is one thing you can never get back. If you’re feeling discouraged, shake off the doubt and move forward. Everything you need to succeed is already within you—you just have to dig deep and ask God for the courage to use it for His glory.

Some of you carry million-dollar ideas that God planted in you before you were born. Others have talents that could change the world but are too afraid to step out in faith. Some of you feel stuck in jobs that drain your soul, yet fear has paralyzed you. If no one has ever told you this before, let me be the first: You were created for greatness. Your light was meant to shine.

The longer you wait, the easier it becomes to put it off indefinitely. Stop hesitating. If you want to go back to school—do it. If you want to write that book—start today. If you want to change your career—take the first step. If you want to improve your health—begin now.

Great victories come through great challenges. David didn’t just defeat Goliath—he believed that God could do it through him. Moses didn’t just part the Red Sea—he allowed God to work through him. Every miracle in the Bible came through a willing and obedient heart, knowing that it was God, not man, accomplishing the impossible.

What’s stopping you from stepping into your greatness? Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

What are you asking for? What are you believing for?

It’s time to take action and trust God to lead the way. If you don’t know where He is leading, stop, pray, and seek His wisdom. James 1:5 reminds us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” But when you ask, do not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave tossed by the wind.

Too often, God gives us direction, yet we run to others for confirmation instead of standing on His word. Be careful who you seek counsel from—because the wrong voices can lead you astray. Remember what happened in the Garden of Eden when Eve entertained the wrong voice. When in doubt, seek God first—not just in some areas, but in all areas of your life.

Everything you do in life can be activated by your faith in God. So here’s my challenge to you: Stop complaining. Stop comparing. Trust that God has amazing plans for YOUR life. Get in your own lane and run the race designed for you. Don’t become a copy of someone else—become the best version of who God created you to be.

The world needs authenticity, not imitation. Jesus is calling you to follow Him. Are you ready?

Pray with me:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gifts and dreams You have placed inside of me. Help me to trust You fully, to step out in faith, and to move forward with confidence. Remove any fear, doubt, or hesitation that keeps me from pursuing the purpose You have for my life.

Lord, I surrender my plans to You. Lead me in the direction You have prepared for me. Give me the strength to endure challenges and the wisdom to recognize opportunities. May everything I do bring glory to Your name.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
