Love Never Fails

The day my daughter was born, I thought I understood love. But when I held her for the first time, something in me changed. It wasn’t just emotion, it was a kind of love that reached places in me I didn’t even know existed. She was so small, so fragile, and yet, in that moment, I knew I would spend my life protecting her, providing for her, doing whatever it took to give her a good life.

I remember whispering to her, “I’ll never leave you.” And I meant it. Every word came from the deepest part of me.

Now she's off at college, and I realize how much I miss having her around, watching her start this new chapter of her life. I still catch myself missing the little things, her laugh, the sound of her footsteps, the way she’d sit beside me just to be close. The distance doesn’t change how I feel. My love hasn’t gone anywhere. It still covers her, prays for her, hopes for her.

And every time I think about how much I love her, I get a small glimpse of how much God loves us.

Because His love makes mine look small.

Before you were even formed, before anyone knew your name, God already did. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” (Jeremiah 1:5) That means He saw your entire life before your first heartbeat: and still chose you.

That’s what real love looks like. It doesn’t wait for you to have it all together. It doesn’t change with circumstances. It just is.

He’s the kind of Father who’s near even when you feel distant. The kind who watches over you when you’re lost, comforts you when you’re hurting, and still calls you by name when shame tries to tell you otherwise.

Psalm 139:17–18 says, “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered. I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand.”

That means His thoughts about you never stop. His love never takes a break.
And I think sometimes that’s what we struggle to believe, not that God exists, but that He actually loves us... always, for who we are, no matter what.

Because we know ourselves too well, don’t we? We know the mess, the regrets, the parts we don’t show anyone. But God knows those same parts and still says, “You are Mine.”

When I look at my daughter, even when she makes mistakes, my love for her doesn’t change. If anything, I love her more deeply in those moments because I want her to know she’s not alone. That’s how God loves you, only greater.

Romans 8:38–39 says it best: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Nothing can stand between you and His love. Not your failures. Not your doubts. Not your past. If you’ve ever wondered whether God still cares, the answer is yes, He always has.

His love is the kind that stays when everyone else walks away. The kind that heals wounds you thought were permanent. The kind that keeps showing up, even when you stop looking for it.

That’s the love that woke you up this morning. That’s the love holding you together even now.

So take a breath. Let that truth sink in. You are seen. You are known. You are loved… completely and without condition.

God’s love isn’t something you have to earn. It’s already yours, and no matter where you go or what happens, it’s always with you; never leaving, never stopping.

Right now, God is looking at you. He sees everything you’ve tried to hide, everything you’ve pushed aside, every part of you that you think doesn’t matter. And He’s saying this: step forward. Step into the life I made for you. You don’t need to have all the answers. You don’t need to wait for permission. My love is enough. My presence is enough. Trust Me, and move.

Pray with me

Father God,
Thank You for loving me even when I don’t understand it. Thank You for never leaving, never changing, never letting go. Help me see myself through Your eyes… worthy, cherished, and chosen. Teach me to rest in Your love and to trust that You are always near. I receive Your love today, fully and freely.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
