Worship Changes Everything

Writer: Ron HaleRon Hale
I remember sitting in church, minding my own business, when a woman of God preaching on stage looked out into the crowd and said, “You in the green and white shirt, stand up.”

My eyes moved quickly around the room, trying to figure out who she was talking to. Surely, it couldn’t be me. But as I scanned the audience, I felt her eyes lock onto me. Then I looked down and realized—I was wearing a green and white shirt.

The room seemed to blur as my heart raced. “No way she’s talking to me,” I thought, shifting in my seat, hoping to blend into the crowd. But then she called out again, louder this time. “Yes, you. I’m talking to you.”

I froze. No part of me wanted to stand up in front of a room full of strangers. Before I could decide, an older gentleman next to me gently pulled me to my feet. Heart pounding, I stood there, unsure of what would happen next.

She looked me straight in the eyes and said, “I have a word for you. God told me someone is trying to steal your creativity. But He wants you to worship Him and Him alone. When life gets tough, He wants you to worship Him. When you don’t know which direction to walk, He wants you to worship Him. And when you begin to worship Him, your blessings will chase you down because your obedience to Him is greater than any sacrifice.”

I didn’t fully grasp the meaning of her words at the time. But now, years later, I see how true they are. That moment in church wasn’t just about me—it was about all of us who let fear hold us back from answering God’s call.

So let me ask you: What or who are you chasing more than God? Is it a career? A dream? A relationship? Money? Success?

We often say we’re waiting on God, but the truth is—He’s already done His part. The question is, are you doing yours? The Bible reminds us in James 2:17 that “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

When God calls you, it won’t always be easy. You might feel alone. You might face discouragement, heartache, or fear. But sometimes, God allows these challenges to strip away what doesn’t belong and replace it with the truth of His Word. Just like I could’ve ignored that woman’s call and stayed in my seat, you have a choice. Will you sit back, or will you stand up in faith?

Here’s the truth: When you put God first, everything else falls into place. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

The blessings you’re chasing will begin to chase you down when your life aligns with Him. It’s not about what you’re doing for yourself; it’s about what you’re doing for His glory.

So today, I challenge you to ask yourself: What is holding you back from chasing God? Are you prioritizing temporary things over eternal ones? Lay it all down at His feet. Stop running after the things of this world and start running after the One who created it.

Now is the time to stand up in faith. The moment is now. Worship God with your whole heart, and watch Him transform your life in ways you never imagined. God isn’t asking for perfection—He’s asking for your heart. Stand up, step out, and trust Him to lead the way.

Here Is A Prayer of Surrender

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for loving me even when I’ve been chasing after everything but You. I surrender my fears, my plans, and my desires to You right now. Help me to let go of the things I’ve been holding onto so tightly—things that aren’t from You. Teach me to worship You in spirit and truth, no matter what I’m facing.

Reveal to me the areas where I’ve been holding back, and give me the courage to step out in faith. Remind me that obedience to You is worth more than anything I could ever give up. Fill me with Your peace and purpose, and help me to trust that Your plans for me are good.

I choose today to seek You first. Let everything I do bring You glory. Thank You for being my constant source of strength and my guide.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
