When Love Speaks in Silence

A few weeks ago, I traveled to Boston to visit my family, and it changed me. I didn’t know what to expect, but the idea of seeing them in person after so long made me both excited and a little nervous. As I drove from the airport in a rental car, questions raced through my mind: How would my mom react when she saw me? Would she cry? Would I cry? Would this moment live up to everything I’d hoped for? With every mile, my excitement kept building.

When I arrived at my sister’s house and rang the doorbell, she was the first to greet me. My sister—a true warrior in both mind and spirit—wrapped me in a hug that felt like home. Through her tears, she whispered, “I’m so happy you’re here.” Her words echoed in my heart as she led me upstairs to see my mom.

Standing at the doorway of my mom’s room, time seemed to slow. There she was, the woman who raised five children on her own, the hero of my life. She looked up at me with a smile that gave off pure love. Though she had grown frailer since my last visit, she was still the strong, selfless woman who had always put her family first. We embraced, and in that moment, I was reminded of all the sacrifices she made to ensure we had a better life.

The days I spent in Boston were a gift. My sister and I grew closer, and I was reminded of the importance of family and faith. Through it all, one truth stood out: time waits for no one. Life is fleeting, and every moment is an opportunity to honor God, love others, and walk in the purpose He’s called us to.

My mother always taught me two important lessons: to put God first, and to chase my dreams with all my heart.“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). Her words remain a guiding light in my life, a reminder that everything we do should bring glory to God.

So, let me ask you: What’s holding you back from living the life God has called you to? Is it fear? Doubt? The opinions of others? Are you waiting for the perfect moment? Let me tell you—there’s no such thing as the "perfect moment." The time to step out in faith is now.

Too often, we carry burdens God never intended for us to bear. We seek approval from people who may never understand our purpose. Some of us are weighed down by unforgiveness, holding onto past hurts and letting bitterness take away our peace and happiness. Yet, God calls us to let go of these things and trust Him to guide us. "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

Have you ever felt discouraged because the people you thought would support you didn’t? Maybe you shared your dreams, only to be met with doubt or silence. But remember, not everyone is meant to walk with you on the journey God has planned for you. Even Jesus warned, “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves” (Matthew 10:16). Guard your heart and your dreams. Share them with God, who will lead you according to His perfect plan.

When you start seeing your life through God’s eyes, everything changes. It’s time to rise above the negativity and walk boldly in faith. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” And he was right. No matter your circumstances, keep pressing on with the strength God gives you.

The truth is, the only thing standing between you and the life God has for you is your willingness to say “yes” to Him. Stop waiting for others to approve of you. Stop allowing fear, failure, or the heaviness of your past to hold you back. Instead, release it all to God and step boldly into His promises.

Ask yourself: What dream has God placed on your heart? What step of faith have you been avoiding? Take one step—no matter how small—toward that dream today. Whether it’s praying, writing it down, or simply saying “yes” to God, trust that with every step forward, He is walking with you. The time is now. Don’t wait. God’s promises are waiting for you to step into them.

Pray with me

Heavenly Father,
I come to You with an open heart, ready to let go of everything holding me back. I surrender my fears, my doubts, my plans, and my past to You. I give You control over my life, trusting that Your ways are better than mine.

Lord, I ask You to lead me. Shape me into who You’ve created me to be. I surrender my dreams and trust You to guide me toward the purpose You have for me. Help me to let go of trying to do it all on my own and lean on Your strength, Your love, and Your wisdom.

Thank You for loving me, even when I fall short. I am Yours, Lord—fully and completely.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
