Stay on Your Post

No matter what’s going on in your life—big storms or quiet struggles, God says, “Stay on your post.”

When people talk about you, twist your words, or try to drag your name through the mud, don’t flinch. Stay right where He planted you. Their words don’t define you. They were never yours to carry.

If I got a dime for every negative thing said about me, I’d give it away because those words don’t belong to me. The same goes for the things spoken about you. They only affect you if you choose to believe them. Don’t accept things that God never gave you.

Here’s something the Holy Spirit had to teach me the hard way: what people think of you is none of your business. That’s their burden, not yours.

If people call you names, misunderstand you, or misjudge your intentions, don’t take it personally. What they say is a reflection of how they see you, not who you truly are. Let their opinions fade away like smoke in the wind. You are made in the image of God, and that’s who you are.

Jesus said, “If the world hates you, remember it hated Me first” (John 15:18). And yet, He still went to the Cross. Still loved. Still forgave. Still stayed on His post.

Let that sink in.

People misunderstood Him. They mocked Him. Lied about Him. Betrayed Him. But He never wavered. He had a mission. And so do you.

Some people will leave your life, and it may be difficult. But let them go. Don’t chase after what God is trying to remove. A new season is coming, and not everyone is meant to go with you. It’s not rejection; it’s just God moving you in a new direction.

When God calls you higher, He’ll often call you into a quiet place. A place where it’s just you and Him. Yes, it might feel lonely—but it’s holy ground. In that solitude, He’s shaping you, stretching you, and filling you with strength for the call on your life.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

You don’t have to fight every battle. You don’t have to defend yourself when people misunderstand. Trust God with the chaos. One minute people will cheer you on. The next, they’ll talk behind your back like you were never part of their story.

Don’t strike back. Don’t let bitterness grow roots in your heart. Love like Jesus. Forgive like Jesus. Walk away if you must—but walk away clean.

Remember, the enemy is the accuser. He’s been doing this since the beginning; day and night. But “There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). You are not what they say. You are who He says.

God has placed people in your life who are meant to stay and walk with you. The real ones don’t walk away when things get difficult. They pray for you, stand by you, and believe with you.

And if you're reading this feeling like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, hear me: You are the light. God placed you here to reflect His Son. So shine; especially when darkness tries to shut you down.

Stay on your post. Let your life shine like a light, pointing others to His glory.

Let’s Pray

Father,
Thank You for seeing us, choosing us, and placing us where we are for such a time as this. Help us to stay faithful, even when it’s hard. Help us to shake off the words that don’t come from You and cling to what You’ve spoken. Fill us with the boldness of Jesus and the gentleness of His love. Teach us to rest in Your presence and trust Your timing. Keep our hearts soft and our spirits strong. May our lives reflect Your glory. We don’t want the spotlight, only Your light.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

If this spoke to you, encouraged you, or reminded you of who you are in God, share it with someone who needs the same reminder. Let’s keep the light shining.
