Never Lose Sight of Yourself While Pouring Into Others
Last week, I did something I rarely do—I took two full days off from work, not for anyone else, but for me. I disconnected, recharged, and made space to simply exist without the demands of others. I hit the "reset" button. And here's what I learned: sometimes, we must slow down and reclaim our time. It’s not just a luxury—it’s essential. In a world that constantly demands more, it’s okay, necessary even, to step back and choose you.
If you're someone who endlessly gives—to the point where everyone else thrives except you—listen closely. You’re the person people come to when they need advice, support, money, or time. You're their rock. But when was the last time someone asked how you’re doing? You can’t be everyone’s lifeline and leave yourself drowning. You’ve become the go-to ATM, where others withdraw without ever making a deposit.
I know why you do it—because your heart is big. You care deeply. You give without hesitation because it’s who you are. But here’s the truth: you are more than what you give. There comes a day when your cup will be empty, and what then? No one can pour from an empty cup, just as no car can run on fumes. You deserve the same level of care, attention, and love that you so freely give to others.
We live in a world that weighs us down with expectation after expectation, but you don’t have to carry that weight alone. God invites us to cast our cares on Him. As 1 Peter 5:7 says: "Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you." It’s a reminder that your burdens aren’t meant to be carried alone—lean into that.
Now, let me challenge you. The next time you feel drained, when you know you need a break, take it. Not just physically, but emotionally, spiritually—take a break from the constant demands, the endless obligations. Prioritize yourself unapologetically. You are not an option. You are the priority. Do not make the mistake of sidelining your own well-being while lifting up everyone else.
You matter. You are important. Your greatness is not found in how much you can give until you’re empty, but in how you balance giving with receiving. Don’t ever feel guilty for saying "no." You can’t be the foundation for everyone else when no one is building you up.
Step back. Look at your life. See everything in front of you clearly. What no longer serves you, release it. Protect your peace, because it’s priceless. You are priceless. And when you start to treat yourself that way, you will step into the greatness that has been waiting for you all along.
Take care of YOU. Let God refill your cup, and watch how the world around you transforms. The greatness within you deserves to be nurtured. Give yourself the best, because you are worthy of nothing less.
