God’s Timing, Not Ours

No matter how talented you are, if you are in the wrong place and not aligned with God, you will be ineffective.

Over the past seven weeks, I’ve been working on finalizing the edits of my newest book, The Hidden Exchange, and I’ve found it challenging to get it done. The book is already written, and the first round of professional edits has been completed. Now, I’m in the final stages, but I keep critiquing it more than I probably should. I want it to be excellent.

With my day-to-day responsibilities, attending my daughter’s high school basketball games, staying in the presence of God, and handling life’s demands—I realized something important: In order to maximize my efforts, I need a strategic and uninterrupted plan to maintain my focus—because anything worth praying for is worth working for.

But sometimes, despite our best efforts, life seems to slow us down. Or maybe, just maybe, it isn’t life at all—it’s God repositioning us.

Originally, The Hidden Exchange was set to release in January 2025. But as time passed, I kept asking myself, Why is this taking so long? The book is already written and edited. And then, I heard God say, That was your plan, not Mine.

Proverbs 16:1 reminds us: "We humans make plans, but the Lord has the final word."

That verse stopped me in my tracks. We can make all the plans we want, but God determines the timing. It doesn’t mean our plans won’t come to pass—it means God decides when, not man. When I realized I was putting too much pressure on myself, I had to ask: Am I doing this in my own power, or am I allowing God to lead?

Because here’s the truth: Sometimes, God wants to reposition us for His glory.

What are you passionate about? Have you ever poured your heart into something, felt so close to the finish line, and then—suddenly—you were redirected?

Maybe that redirection isn’t a setback. Maybe it’s God still growing you. Maybe He’s stretching you, teaching you that it’s not just about reaching the goal, but about what comes with it.

For me, writing wasn't just about finishing the book—it was about preparing for what comes with it. What if I released it too soon without a clear strategy? What if God wanted me to wait because there was something else He needed me to do first?

Sometimes, delays aren’t obstacles—they’re divine setups.

What about you? Has God ever shifted something in your life? Maybe it’s a career, a relationship, a location, or a passion. You thought you were headed in one direction, but suddenly, He changed the course. If so, trust Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

When we surrender our goals, dreams, and desires to God, He leads us to something greater than we could ever achieve on our own. The world may promise success through hard work and ambition, but true success comes from alignment with God. A life with Him is greater than all the riches, honor, and accolades in the world without Him.

So, submit your plans to Him. Trust His timing. And when He repositions you, follow His lead. Because where He takes you will always be greater than where you thought you were going.

Pray With Me:

Lord, thank You for Your perfect timing. Help me to trust You even when I don’t understand the delays. I surrender my plans, dreams, and ambitions to You. If You are repositioning me, let me embrace it with faith, knowing that Your ways are always higher. Teach me patience, humility, and unwavering trust in You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
